We attended the Goodwood Festival of Speed today and headed straight to the BMW M stand for the world premiere of the new G90 M5!

Our first time seeing the car in the metal, and I have to say Ive come away impressed, and I cant wait for our car to arrive in a few months. Certainly a few changes well be making!

We were lucky enough to be right next to Franciscus van Meel as he discussed the latest M5, and then Imran offers his initial thoughts too.

PCD Trip Report: G80 M3 xDrive Fire Orange III Delivery https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2114682 Thu, 27 Jun 2024 18:00:57 +0000 https://www.bimmerpost.com/?p=72491
Hey, posting a quick summary of my PCD since it started back up. Ordered my M3 xDrive through @[Day Laborer](contact:79298) back in January and took delivery at the PCD May 31st.

We got our allocation through a dealer in Louisiana and they turned out to be easy to work with. They had a super low ball offer on my G87 trade though so ended up selling to Carmax for $6k more.

As has been mentioned the hotel is no longer included, the new partner hotels are Hotel Hartness and the Grand Bohemian. We booked with Hotel Hartness and thought it was excellent. Theres hiking trails around the hotel and a local restaurant / bar both at the hotel and another within about a 10 minute walk. Limo ride was provided by BMW from the airport to hotel, and from the hotel to the performance center the next morning.

I didnt get many pictures at the Performance Center prior to delivery, but was definitely happy with the experience. We got to drive a watermelon spec M3 xDrive (IOMG/Fiona) and it gave my wife a lot of confidence driving the car. Shes previously been nervous driving my M cars. The flow for the day was: Classroom for overview of the day, braking exercise, autocross style course, skidpad, track ride with an instructor. After that we headed to the museum in some X5 M60is and on the way back hit the offroad course.

Then we had lunch, hit the gift shop and it was time to see our cars.

This was far and away the most thorough and professional walkthrough of a vehicle by the BMW Performance Center team of any vehicle Ive ever purchased. They made sure we had everything set up to our liking and answered all questions (unlike your typical dealer).

We were done at about 2pm and paused for a quick photo out front before hitting the road for our overnight stop.

We stayed at the Rivers Edge treehouse cabins in Robbinsville before hitting the Cherohala skyway the next day and the rest of our drive home. Was definitely a cool place to stay, secluded and right on a river, they even have a setup to wash your car at your cabin.

The next day we hit the Cherohala skyway early and barely saw any other cars which was fantastic…

This was our first time doing PCD and Id definitely recommend it if you can make it happen. Makes the experience feel more special. Only thing I wish we couldve done is the factory tour but thats currently under construction and will be available again soon.

Smyrna Green G81 M3 Touring + Tartufo Buckets https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2114556 Thu, 27 Jun 2024 02:23:13 +0000 https://www.bimmerpost.com/?p=72485
What a journey it’s been! Ordered this car over a year and half ago and it’s been well worth the wait. For those who don’t know, I requested this color from bmw as I loved the way it looked on the Porsches and thought it would look great on the m3. I had no idea it was possible to actually do this but soon found it was, however it wasn’t guaranteed to be successful, I thought it was worth a shot as I wanted something really unique. Overall It took around 6 months for the color to get approved, they had to experiment on it to make sure it was suited towards the brand and the car. Im a patient man so I wasn’t fussed and if they refused I would just try another color. Initially I had tried to get Auratium green however they quickly rejected it. On top of that I had also managed to get tartufo buckets approved too and this color combo ( In my mind) worked really well. Anyway here is it, first Smyrna green Bmw in the world. ( this color now available to order for you Bmw too).

2023 G80 M3 in Macao Blue Metallic https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2106187 Thu, 23 May 2024 15:24:41 +0000 https://www.bimmerpost.com/?p=72308
I’ve finally gotten around to taking and editing some pics of my G80 in Macao Blue. I took delivery in July 2023 after an 14 month process. I’ve got about 9k miles on it now. This is my first M3 and I love everything about it. I’ve had an E90 335i 6Spd previously but this is a different animal obviously. It is very violent but extremely precise. Tearing up the interstate in this animal is the absolute dream. I don’t track it and don’t intend to. I can’t imagine how ballistic the Competitions are. The 6 speed is fast enough.

The color, Macao Blue Metallic, really messes with your mind. In direct sun light it leans purple except at the most direct sun lit part, where it looks more of a lighter shade of blue. On overcast days it looks more deeper blue than purple…more towards the tanzanite side or some kind of navy. Other times it can look black or dark gray. It’s super dynamic and I love it. There is nothing like it on the road and I get compliments all the time.

I had the car full PPF’d and tinted right after delivery at Speed and Tech in Sterling, VA and that was a great experience. I’ll go back there for any further mods that they are able to perform. RJ is a straight shooter and is super super responsive and thorough.

I installed wheel spacers on my own. I put Future Classic 15mm in the front and 12mm in the back. I may move the 15mm to the back and grab some 18mm for the front for a more aggressive stance. I had also swapped out the P-Zeros for Michelin PS All Seasons before the spacer install. No rubbing at all with those. I also put on the floating center caps because they were a gift. I thought they would be lame but I actually like them.

My Wish List:

  • M Performance Front Splitter. The front end without a splitter looks awkward IMO, especially after seeing many photos with one and I really think I just like the M Performance one.
  • Brake Pads. Likely the EBC Red Stuff Brake pads but convince me otherwise. As everyone else has pointed out, the brake dust and brake squeal are horrendous.
  • Edelweiss Wheels, Square Set Up. Lately all I can see is that I don’t have a square set up and it bothers me. Not sure which finish I want to go with yet. I do like the OEM wheels but I think a winter/summer swap would be good.
  • Eventuri Carbon Fiber Intake. It just looks awesome and premium.
  • Strut tower brace. The factory one leaves something to be desired.

Anyway, you can follow the car on instagram @macaom3. Perhaps we will connect in the future. Cheers!

Malachite Green G80 M3 and Owner Intro https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2105175 Sat, 18 May 2024 20:21:59 +0000 https://www.bimmerpost.com/?p=72288
So, having been a member of this group for a year, i feel it’s time to introduce myself, my car, my previous cars and how i became a petrolhead. If you don’t want to read a loooong story, than you will find some pictures at the end.

It all started when i was 4-5 years old, my father was a car mechanic and our garden was always full of cars and i had the opportunity to sit in all kinds of vehicles. The first sports car that i can rember was a black mk3 toyota supra. We never had powerfull cars but i can clearly rember when my father bought a green mk1 gtd golf with black interior, in wich later my 10 years older brother replaced the entire interior with brown, it was a beauty.
The first time when i was infected with Bmw love was around 1997-98 (i was 10 years old), when a friend of my brother bought an e36 325i and took me for a drive, later he did the same thing with an e36 M3. Then i knew that one day i would have an m3, so the years passed, i finished school, then universitiy, i spent a lot of time browsing mobile.de(the most known online used car market), and i dreamed about cars, this dreaming helped me a lot at university during difficult times when i felt like i was going to quit learning but i knew that learning is the only way to achieve my dreams. So i graduated from university, i started working, bought an e90 330d, than a z4 2.5i, after four years i bought my first M car, a used mineral grey f80 M3 manual wich i loved a lot, made with this car some mountain trips to austria to the Grossglockner, we drove with my father in Romania on the Transfagarasan mountain road wich is a beatyful memory but i needed to sell the car after 1.5 years because my son was born and needed money for a bigger house. The next two years i owned a vw golf mk5 r32 wich i bought because i needed a good sounding vehicle, in this car my son experienced what a special car with big engine is like and he loved it and now he is 5 years old and a real petrolhead, than i sold the R32 for my vw enthusiast brother and finally i bought again an M car, the wonderful f87 m2 competiton in sunset orange. Did some trips again, 3 times on the Grossglockner, once in Italy in the Dolomites with family and than i felt that the time had come to order the car of my dreams, in the same spec as my fathers first German car, the mk1 golf in green and brown. The spec is individual Malachite Green with full tartufo leather, black brake calipers and 826 m bicolor wheels. I placed the order in June 2023 and i took delivery on December 15th, finally my old dream came true, i couldn’t be happier with the car, since delivery i drove 5000km-s, next month we will make a family roadtrip to the Dolomites, wich i will also make a post about, in august Grossglockner again, maybe in september a trackday and this car will not be a garage queen with low mileage, i want to
Collect as many memories as possible with as many mountain trips as possible with this car and with my family.

Thank you for reading my long story and sorry for my bad english. If you are interested, you can find me on instagram, with louderthanschnell nickname.
Thank you for beeing a member of this group and community!
